Visiting the city of peace and justice

The Hague’s reputation as the city of peace and justice attracts visitors from every corner of the globe. Open days, tours and a range of other activities are organised to highlight the city’s work in this area. It is even possible to attend proceedings at the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia or the International Criminal Court. The Peace Palace itself is a must-see for any visitor.

The heart of The Hague

The Peace Palace is at the heart of The Hague’s role as city of peace and justice, and no tour is complete without a visit to this remarkable building. Tours are offered on several weekends each year and the visitors centre is open daily.

Peace days

Every September The Hague celebrates the UN International Day of Peace and The Hague International Day. These two days focus on peace and justice, and allow the city to highlight its efforts to strive for a peaceful and just world.
